Practical guide

How TikTok publishing works in our Social Studio.

This guide explains what the creator approves, what Studio sends, and where TikTok remains in control.

01 / Connect

Approve the OAuth permissions on TikTok.

From Channels, choose TikTok and continue to TikTok's authorization screen. Studio requests these scopes:

user.info.basic
Identify the creator account that was connected.
user.info.stats
Show available creator profile totals in Studio.
video.list
Read available video-level metrics for the connected creator.
video.publish
Send a creator-approved Direct Post.
video.upload
Transfer a creator-approved draft to the TikTok inbox.

Authorization does not publish a video. TikTok returns the user to Studio; the connected account is then shown as a destination. Disconnecting removes the stored Studio connection, and access can also be revoked through TikTok.

02 / Upload

Select and preview original media.

Choose an MP4 that you own or are authorized to use. Studio accepts files up to 100 MB and ten minutes. Preview the selected file before preparing a post. Studio displays that file's expiry time, so a scheduled video must run before it expires.

03 / Review

Set privacy, interactions and disclosures.

For Direct Post, choose from the visibility options TikTok returns for the connected creator. Review caption, comments, Duet and Stitch; Studio disables an interaction when TikTok reports it unavailable for that account.

Mark commercial content and distinguish promotion of your own brand from third-party branded content. Add the AI-generated label when applicable. Branded content cannot use Only you visibility. The final consent also links to TikTok's Music Usage Confirmation and, when relevant, Branded Content Policy.

04 / Choose route

Direct Post and inbox draft are different outcomes.

Direct Post

Studio submits the reviewed caption, visibility, interaction settings and disclosures through TikTok's Direct Post API. Activity tracks the returned attempt; processing can continue on TikTok.

Upload draft

Studio transfers the selected video through TikTok's upload flow. Open TikTok's inbox notification to review, edit and publish the draft there. The upload itself is not a public post.

Both routes require a fresh explicit confirmation. Changing the video or any destination setting clears the previous confirmation.

05 / Timing

Publish now or use Studio scheduling.

The multi-channel Post tab can queue a TikTok Direct Post immediately or for one reviewed future time alongside other ready destinations. Studio stores an independent attempt for every destination. Scheduling is limited to 90 days by the service, and video expiry usually creates an earlier deadline.

The dedicated TikTok inbox-draft action is immediate; finish and publish that draft inside TikTok.

06 / Verify

Check Activity rather than assuming success.

Open Activity to see each attempt's destination, time, status and recorded settings. An accepted request can still be processing on a platform. Review the final post or inbox draft on TikTok before treating the workflow as complete.

Current limitations

Contact sales to request Studio access; approval and an access code are currently required. Public TikTok Direct Post access is subject to TikTok audit approval. Platform review, API access, account eligibility, regional availability and creator-specific settings can limit what appears or succeeds. Snapchat publishing is not enabled. Studio does not bypass TikTok moderation or guarantee distribution, approval, reach or delivery time.
